In his role, Charles is focused on public safety, community caretaking, and emergency preparedness. He serves as a subject matter expert for the BID in public safety, emergency preparedness, communication, and surveillance. In addition to his law enforcement background, Charles also co-founded a retail clothing business which operated an e-commerce website as well as a brick-and-mortar location. This experience has uniquely positioned Charles to understand the challenges businesses face in safety and security. Charles is a DC native and attended Gonzaga High School. He spent nearly a decade working in various public safety roles as a child psychiatric specialist, a sworn officer, and detective.
