Gallery Article 15
Gallery Article 15 is a unique gallery specializing in Congolese contemporary art. Located in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, Gallery Article 15 features an extensive collection of contemporary Congolese art by emerging, mid-career and established artists. In addition to ongoing exhibitions and a vast inventory of original works, Gallery Article 15 actively promotes Congolese art and culture through special events and programs. We also work to support young Congolese artists though the Gallery Article 15 Young Artists Collective. Much of Gallery Article 15’s design and promotional materials are also produced in the DR Congo.
Gallery Article 15 was founded in 2022 by Elizabeth Jaffee. Elizabeth began collecting contemporary Congolese art in 2008 while serving at the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa, DRC during her previous career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. Following years of acquiring contemporary Congolese art for her private collection, Elizabeth organized her first exhibition in December, 2021 titled “We are Congo.” The success of the “We are Congo” exhibition led Elizabeth to open Gallery Article 15. Elizabeth travels frequently to the DRC.
