It’s the first time in 10 years you can cruise the canal by boat!

Score a Mother’s Day gift at the Georgetown French Market.

Visitors can glide through the neighborhood’s 19th century waterway on a brand new packet boat.

After perusing the Georgetown French Market, head over to the newly restored canal boats on the C&O canal. Also stop by the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, a coffee shop that hires individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

If you’re a fan of croissants, macarons and pastries, head to the 19th annual Georgetown French Market. More than 30 locally-owned cafes, boutiques and galleries will participate with items for sale and specials. There will also be live music, stilt walkers and a caricature artist.

Tours return for the first time in over a decade.

The stretch of Wisconsin Avenue known as Book Hill turns into a little slice of Paris each spring with the Georgetown French Market. Locally owned boutiques, galleries, antique stores and other outposts in the neighborhood set up stalls outside on widened sidewalks for bargain shoppers, while musicians, a caricature artist and stilt walkers provide the entertainment.

Boat tours in the DC area are making a comeback! You’ll soon be able to tour the C&O Canal in Georgetown by boat starting Friday. A new boat will be christened Thursday ahead of the big day.
