Stephanie Mercedes will be on-site at her piece, “Weight of a Rainbow,” a suspended light installation with a recorded a cappella choir featuring eight LGBTQ+ voices sharing their stories.

Installation artist Stephanie Mercedes will be speaking about her collaboration with Georgetown GLOW called “The Weight of a Rainbow” on June 12.

In her art installation “The Weight of A Rainbow,” part of the current Georgetown GLOW display, Stephanie Mercedes animates multi-colored lights to shine along with an accompanying song, from an a capella group comprised of eight LGBTQ+ folks. Mercedes will speak about her work and answer questions as part of the GLOW program’s Meet the Artist series.

Restaurant owners, retailers, community organizations, realtors, and a notorious former councilmember dish.

The restaurant will be located in the center of the building, while the 1,000-square-foot market hall — complete with gelato, espresso, and a bakery — will stay at the front.

Visitors are invited to stroll leisurely along the streets of Georgetown to view five large-scale light fixtures created, designed, and installed by five different artists.
