Be Someone’s Lucky Charm
Every three minutes someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer–over 75 of those diseases can be cured or treated by a blood stem cell transplant from a donor–but very few patients have a fully matched donor in their family…most patients rely on a match from a stranger in the NMDP database. So you may just be someone’s lucky charm! Join us at Faherty Georgetown on Saturday, March 15th to swab your cheek, add yourself to the donor registry, and possibly change someone’s life!
All guests who stop by to hear about NMDP’s work will enjoy some themed treats and get to take a lucky trinket home with them; if you step up to swab your cheek to join the NMDP database, you’ll get to test your own luck and draw for a reward (including awesome Faherty discounts and prizes!)
Fun Fact: over 90% of donations now are done via a special blood donation process called PCBS instead of by bone marrow puncture! And there’s no cost to you when you donate: NMDP pays for all of your donation-related expenses.
