Exhibition at House of Sweden: Julia Peirone – I Am Not Blonde

The Embassy of Sweden proudly presents the exhibition ‘I Am Not Blonde’ by renowned Swedish photographer Julia Peirone.

Through her photography, Peirone explores young girls’ search for identity in a world influenced by social media, capturing the frustration many of them feel with today’s beauty standards and expectations. Her photographs are not portraits in the conventional sense, as they challenge modern-day norms and conceptions. Instead, they focus on flaws and imperfections, showing girls when they are unguarded and exposed.

‘I Am Not Blonde’ will be on display at House of Sweden through February 2024. House of Sweden is open to the public on weekends, every Saturday and Sunday between 12:00pm to 5:00pm (ET). Please note that all visitors are required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID (children are exempted) and go through security upon entering the building.
