Labor in an Early Georgetown Household
The daily life of the early residents of Dumbarton House reflected our nation’s conflict between American ideals and American reality. Labor of all kinds was completed in these households by people in various degrees of personal, political, and legal freedom: enslaved people, white paid laborers, and free people of color. Join Dumbarton House for a virtual tour of the museum and grounds to learn more about the people whose labor built, enriched, and served Dumbarton House from 1804 to 1813.
