New Circa Collection at Warby Parker

September 5, 2024 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Warby Parker (3225 M St NW)

These mixed-material frames are four years in the making—with over a century of history behind their design. Handcrafted acetate extends from each metal eyewire, accentuating their shapes with unexpected depth. Circumscribed by historically inspired, cellulose acetate rims, these frames trace their design lineage back to the beginning of the nineteenth century. (This name subtly alludes to that sense of history, “circa 1800,” and to the rimmed or encompassed construction of the frames.) This construction is an excellent example of how vintage styles can be reinvented to create a fresh and modern look. The design inspiration draws on traditional eyewear design, but incorporates sleek metal elements to give it a contemporary twist. By using innovative techniques such as pressing line detail and advanced CNC cutting of the side shield detail, this eyewear construction breathes new life into a classic style, making it a perfect accessory for those who want to stay on-trend while embracing the past.
