Celebrate Bastille Day & the Paris Olympics
Celebrate Bastille Day with the return of maman’s giant croissant, only available July 13 – 14, while supplies last. Chez Billy Sud is marking the occasion from 2 pm – close on Sunday with live jazz music with Bon Vivants, special cocktails, and jambon beurre and raw oysters. If you want to shop while you snack, French clothing brand Sézane is making crêpes from 2:30 pm – 4:30 on July 14.
Join Lutèce on Bastille Day for a celebratory weekend to honor the French holiday! Chefs Matt Conroy and Isabel Coss are offering several specials for the holiday only including a Courgette Tart with vin jaune, Beef Tongue frites w/ sauce au poivre, and a Mille-Feuille with anise hyssop and summer berries. For drinks, Advanced Sommelier Chris Ray will be pouring three magnums (1.5 liter bottles) of wine: Sparkling (Le Brun-Servenay, “Mélodie en C.,” Champagne, France $34/gl), White (Falkenstein, Riesling, Alto-Adige, Italy $17/gl), and Rose (Domaine de Marquiliani, “Le Rosé de Pauline,” Corsica, France $25/gl). For cocktails, Bar Manager Megan Coyle is offering a special cocktail based on the popular French dish, Clafotis, and “let them eat cake.” The “Cake for All” cocktail is a clarified cocktail made from tart cherry infused Vodka, Prunelle de Bourgogne, Capitoline Red Vermouth, Almond milk, and Forthave Coffee Liqueur. The cocktail is served low, on a rock, and garnished with a local cherry.
Over at L’Avant-Garde, Chef Sébastien is offering a new Le Tour de France menu in honor of both Bastille Day and the upcoming Paris Olympics, featuring a collection of his favorite French dishes from the different regions of France. The menu is available through July 31, and includes a half chicken simmered with mushrooms, lardons, baby onions and potatoes in a white wine creamy sauce from Alsace, filet mignon served with dijon style green pepper sauce from Burgundy, and authentic crême brûlée, among other dishes.
