Changing City: Tobacco, Transportation & Georgetown

Join Georgetown Heritage, Tudor Place and Dumbarton House for a virtual program, Changing City: Tobacco, Transportation & Georgetown, Jan. 28 from 4 pm – 5 pm. Recommended for grades 3-5, this program delves into the founding of DC through the port of Georgetown and its undeniable ties to the tobacco industry. Using primary sources, children can uncover the links between the tobacco trade, money, city growth, and enslavement in this urban setting.
With the perspective of the three historic sites hosting this event, learn about the people who lived and worked in Georgetown and depended on the tobacco trade. Participants will be sent a Zoom link via email one day before the event.
