Georgetown Theater Week Brings Play Outdoors
Bring a picnic and enjoy live theater on the lawn of Tudor Place (1644 31st St NW) on Wednesday, June 12 from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The Picnic Theatre Group will present a play adaptation of The Candidate as part of their Georgetown Theater Week. In this satire of electoral politics in America circa 1972, the heir of a famous political family is tapped to run a hopeless campaign against a powerful incumbent Senator. Be transported to the 1970s with music and costumes on the campaign trail. The comedy reveals divisions in American politics and society that still resonate in 2024.
On Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, Dumbarton House (2715 W St NW) will host the performance in their garden from 6 pm – 8:30 pm, with wine and refreshments available for purchase. All proceeds benefit Dumbarton House and Tudor Place programs and preservation.
