New BBQ Pop-Up at Sandlot Georgetown

Starting August 4, James Beard-nominated chef Jerome Grant is bringing his new American-Filipino fusion concept, Mahal BBQ, to Sandlot Georgetown (2715 Pennsylvania Ave NW). Main dishes come as platters or sandwiches and include bbq sausage, smoked beef cheek, half chicken, and smoked oyster mushroom, paired with your choice of banana ketchup or white bbq sauce, beer mustard, or chili-vinegar sauce. Opt for a side of green papaya slaw, longanisa bbq beans, or garlic butter white rice – with pimento cheese, creamy street corn, and cornbread with mango jam available as starters. Mahal BBQ will be at the outdoor shipping container bar every weekend through mid-October.
