New Mural Will Spotlight Wrongfully Detained
On Wednesday, April 30 at 10am, the Bring Our Families Home Campaign will unveil a new large-scale mural in Georgetown’s Oak Alley (3125 M St NW) featuring the faces of 11 Americans held hostage or wrongfully detained abroad. The mural will be installed April 28-29 by family members of those featured on the mural, and the press conference and unveiling will kick-start the “Freedom Starts with a Name” initiative, which aims to introduce these 11 American captives to the public, media, and senior political leaders, according to the press release. In July 2022, the campaign unveiled a similar mural in this same location, featuring 18 Americans detained at that time – including WNBA player Brittney Griner.
