Women’s History Month Events in Georgetown
Kick off women’s history month by exploring Georgetown’s role in the new women’s history guidebook, 111 Places in Women’s History That You Must Not Miss!, written by DC-based company A Tour of Her Own. Join a panel of representatives from Dumbarton House, Mt. Zion Female Union Band Cemetery, Oak Hill Cemetery, and authors Kaitlin Calogera and Rebecca Grawl tonight from 6 pm – 8 pm for a discussion of women’s history in DC’s oldest neighborhood. Hosted by Dumbarton House, the museum will open at 6 pm for tours before the panel begins at 6:30 pm. On March 6, you can also join A Tour of Her Own for Wild Women of Georgetown – a two-hour stroll through the neighborhood that has been home to fierce preservationists, public figures, and famous starlets. Your tour guide will highlight stories of the women who built and shaped Georgetown, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Julia Child, and Katherine Graham – former publisher and owner of The Washington Post. The tour begins at Dumbarton House at 2 pm.
